Babyworld.se, one of Sweden’s largest retailers in the baby and child segment, was recently acquired by Babysam.dk. This allowed the two online shops to combine their inventories and agreements, as well as introduce the successful Danish product range to the Swedish market. The challenge lay in quickly and accurately localising the product descriptions to ensure they were suitable for the Swedish customer base.

By leveraging AI, the bulk of the translation process was automated, significantly reducing the time and labour costs typically associated with manual translations. The AI model was specifically trained on Babyworld.se’s brand guidelines, ensuring that the initial translations were highly accurate. Human translators then reviewed these translations, focusing on fine-tuning and ensuring brand consistency. This hybrid approach maximised efficiency, enabling the delivery of 2,000 product descriptions in just 4 working days—a process that would traditionally take much longer.

THE NEXT STEPS

Moving forward, BabySam plans to continue leveraging this highly efficient translation process to further add BabySam products to Babyworld.se’s product offering. The immediate goal is to complete the localisation of the remaining products, ensuring the entire Danish inventory is seamlessly integrated into the Swedish market. Additionally, with the AI model now finely tuned to Babyworld.se’s brand voice and identity, future product launches and additions can be localised within 1-2 days. 

By sustaining this efficient translation workflow, BabySam can consistently ensure that new collections and product updates are promptly available to Swedish customers, keeping the webshop dynamic and appealing. The combination of speed, cost-effectiveness, and brand consistency not only solidifies Babyworld.se’s market position but also opens the door for future expansions into other Nordic markets, where similar localisation strategies can be applied, allowing BabySam to replicate this success on a broader scale.
