How Babysam translated 2,000 products in four days
When Babysam.dk acquired Babyworld.se, the Danish product catalogue had to go live in Swedish. We translated 2,000 product descriptions in four working days using a custom LLM, at 40% lower cost than a traditional translation process.
A Swedish market
A Danish catalogue
Babysam.dk acquired Babyworld.se - one of Sweden's biggest online stores for babies and children.
But 2,000 product descriptions were still in Danish, and none of it could go live until each one had a Swedish version that matched Babyworld.se's tone of voice.
For a webshop entering a new market, every day without a full product range with accurate descriptions is a day where you could lose customers. A traditional translation process or with generic AI translations would have pushed the timeline by weeks - meaning Swedish customers would have opened the site to find only part of what was available.
"Rapid translation was crucial during the agile period of the companies' merger, serving as a key support and time saver. It allowed us to swiftly introduce products to the Swedish market while maintaining our tone of voice"
A custom LLM
Backed by our specialists
We built a custom LLM and trained it on brand guidelines and tone of voice before any translation work began. Once the model had the right foundation, it worked through the full catalogue - producing all the Swedish product descriptions that fit the brand's style and vocabulary. Following the right rules and restrictions provided by the internal guidelines.
Native-speaking translators then reviewed the output. Their job was to catch anything that needed adjustment and make sure every description read naturally to a Swedish customer. As the output gets reviewed and added to the feedback loop, the translations faster became better and better with less manual work.
